LittleFundayBot

If you found this page in your server logs, our crawler visited your site. It identifies itself with the user agent LittleFundayBot/1.0 (+https://littlefunday.com/bot) and this page explains what it does, how it behaves and how to make it stop.

Who we are

Little Funday is a small, independent site in Las Vegas, NV that helps parents find free and cheap things to do with kids in the Las Vegas valley. The crawler exists for one purpose: to notice when libraries, parks departments, museums and community venues post new kids’ events, so those events can appear in our daily list. We do not sell advertising and we do not resell data. More on the about page.

What it collects

LittleFundayBot fetches public event calendar pages and individual event pages. From each event it records the facts a parent needs: title, date, start and end time, venue, price and age range, plus the URL of the page they came from.

It does not copy event descriptions or photos wholesale. A language model extracts the facts above and must quote the short sentence on the page that supports each one; those quotes are kept internally as evidence for our human reviewers and are not republished. Every listing on Little Funday links back to the source page and shows when it was last checked, so your page stays the canonical place for the full description.

How it behaves

The crawler is built to be a light, predictable visitor. On every host it:

  • Reads and obeys robots.txt before each run, including Crawl-delay for the LittleFundayBot and * user agents.
  • Honors TDM Reservation Protocol (TDMRep) signals.
  • Uses conditional GET with ETag and If-Modified-Since, so unchanged pages return 304 and cost almost nothing.
  • Waits a minimum delay between requests to the same host, regardless of whether a Crawl-delay is set.
  • Never logs in, never submits forms, never follows links that look like actions, and never bypasses a bot challenge.
  • Treats a Cloudflare, Akamai or similar challenge as an opt-out: the source is paused and is not retried automatically.
  • Fetches only calendar and event pages; it does not crawl your whole site, images, downloads or search results.
  • Runs once a day, in the early morning Pacific time, with a single concurrent connection per host.

How to opt out

Add the following two lines to your robots.txt. The change is honored on the next run, which is at most one day away:

  • User-agent: LittleFundayBot
  • Disallow: /

Opting out by email

If you would rather not edit robots.txt, email hello@littlefunday.com with “LittleFundayBot” in the subject line and your domain. We pause the source by hand and remove any listings that came from it within one business day.

Prefer a feed?

If you publish an ICS, JSON or RSS export of your events, point us at it and we will read that instead of fetching HTML pages. Feeds are cheaper for your servers, more accurate for us, and usually get your events listed faster, since there is nothing to extract or review. Many library and parks systems already have one; if you are not sure, send us the calendar URL and we will look. Venues can also submit and claim listings on the venues page.

Contact

Questions, exclusions and feed URLs all go to hello@littlefunday.com. A person reads every message and replies within one business day. If you are a parent rather than a webmaster, the contact page is a better starting point.

Questions parents ask

Why is LittleFundayBot requesting my calendar pages?

Because your site publishes public kids’ or family events in the Las Vegas valley, or links to pages that do. The crawler visits once a day to notice new or changed events. It only fetches calendar and event pages and uses conditional requests, so unchanged pages cost you a 304 and nothing more.

How fast will a robots.txt block take effect?

On the next run, which is at most one day away. We read robots.txt at the start of every run and skip any host that disallows LittleFundayBot. Listings already collected from the site are removed within one business day if you email us.

Does the crawler run from a fixed IP address?

It runs from a small set of addresses that can change with our hosting. The reliable way to identify it is the user agent string LittleFundayBot/1.0 (+https://littlefunday.com/bot); if you need the current addresses for an allowlist, email us.
