About Little Funday

Little Funday is a small, independent site with one job: every morning, find what is free or cheap to do with kids across the Las Vegas valley and put it in one list, sorted for your family. No ticket sales, no ads, no selling your data.

What we believe

Every Las Vegas family should know what is free today. The valley has an unusual amount of free kids’ programming — storytimes at two dozen library branches, park programs from four different parks departments, museum free days, ranger walks at Red Rock Canyon and Lake Mead — and almost none of it is in one place. The information exists. It is just spread across thirty calendars that nobody has time to check.

So we check them for you. Little Funday looks at those calendars every morning, pulls out what is on, and shows it free-first so the no-cost option is always at the top. We think a good afternoon with your kids should not depend on how many browser tabs you are willing to open.

Why it exists

We are a small family of four: two parents and two boys. Like most families, we are always looking for something fun to do with the kids: on weekends, after school, over school breaks, and on the days our youngest is not at daycare. Two years ago we moved from Southern California to Las Vegas. Back in California we had a service that gathered all the local family events in one place, and we relied on it every week. When we got here, we looked for the same thing and could not find it.

So we built Little Funday. We do the hard work of tracking down the great things to do across the valley, from library storytimes and park programs to museum days and ranger walks, and share them with every family in Las Vegas. We still use it ourselves to plan our boys’ weekends, after-school afternoons and school breaks, and the days our little one is home, which is the best test we know: if it does not help us decide what to do today, it is not done yet.

How we collect events

We collect, verify and put together every listing ourselves. Each day we go through the event calendars of libraries, parks, museums and nature areas across the valley, with tools that flag what is new or changed, and we add events no calendar lists: places we visit ourselves, local venues we follow and tips from other parents.

We check the details of every event by hand before it goes live, and every listing links back to the organizer with the date we last checked it. More on how it works.

What we don’t do

A few things we have decided not to do, so you know where the money comes from and where it does not.

  • We do not sell tickets or take a cut of anything you book. Every listing sends you to the organizer.
  • We do not run ads. The only money comes from Little Funday Plus memberships.
  • We do not sell or share your data. Your kids’ ages, and any nicknames you add, stay on your account, are never shown publicly and are used only to match activities to your family.
  • We never copy organizers’ descriptions or photos. We publish the facts and link to the source for everything else.

Who it’s for

Parents and caregivers of kids from newborn to teen, anywhere in the Las Vegas valley: Las Vegas, Henderson, Summerlin and North Las Vegas. Set a home base and a distance once and the list narrows to what you can actually drive to this afternoon. It is also for grandparents, nannies and anyone else who has a Tuesday with a four-year-old and no plan.

If you are new, start with the free things to do with kids in Las Vegas page. Everything on it is open to everyone.

The name

A “funday” is a small, ordinary, good day — not a theme park trip, just a storytime and a splash pad and a nap in the car on the way home. “Little” is for the kids and for the ambition: we are not trying to plan your whole year, just today. Together it is what we hope every list on the site leads to.
